You may have directed your local telephone company not to allow your long distance provider to be changed without your authorization. This is called a PIC freeze. You should think of a PIC freeze as insurance against slamming. Slamming means someone has changed your long distance provider without your knowledge or authorization.

If you have a PIC freeze you need to contact your local telephone company at the time you complete the LOA and direct them to remove the PIC freeze (for BellSouth call 557-6500). After your long distance service is switched to FPB Long Distance you will need to reinstate your PIC freeze by calling your local telephone company.
